Supporting Inclusive Employment - iST’s Used Book Collection Initiative with the Man Fair Sheltered Workshop

As iST continues its long-term commitment to corporate social responsibility, we firmly believe that truly impactful social initiatives are built on sustained engagement, understanding, and thoughtful response—rather than one-time contributions.

Over the years, iST has participated in multiple activities organized by the Man Fair Sheltered Workshop of Aiheng Development Center. Through ongoing interaction and firsthand engagement, we gradually came to recognize one of the most pressing needs within the sheltered workshop: access to stable, repeatable work tasks that allow participants to continuously build skills and accumulate real-world experience.

With this understanding in mind, iST began to reflect on a key question:
Could we leverage the resources already available within our company and among our employees to respond to this long-term, practical need?

This reflection led to the launch of a Used Book Collection Initiative ahead of the Lunar New Year. Employees were invited to reorganize and donate books from their homes—books that had completed one stage of their journey but remained in good condition. The initiative was carried out through a series of collection sessions across three iST sites. In addition to enthusiastic participation at each location, books were also voluntarily sent in from employees at other sites, allowing this act of goodwill to circulate across different workplaces.

By the conclusion of the campaign, a total of 1,000 used books had been collected. These books were not donated for reading purposes; instead, they became practical materials for job skills training at the Man Fair Sheltered Workshop. Participants take part in a full workflow—including inventory checking, sorting, organizing, packaging, and listing the books for sale online. Through repeated, hands-on practice, they gradually build vocational skills, gain confidence, and move steadily toward stable employment and greater independence.

For iST, this used book initiative represents more than a charitable outcome—it is a deliberate response shaped by long-term observation and collaboration. Through resource recirculation and practical employment support, we aim to ensure that our corporate social engagement remains closely aligned with real needs and continues to create lasting impact.
