Stepping Into the Fields, Connecting Through Understanding — iST Joins Ai-Heng Foundation’s Farm Experience Program

“Do you know how long it may take for a person with disabilities to learn how to hang clothes on a rack?”

The answer: five years.

That single answer quietly changed the atmosphere of the day.

It reminded everyone present that many everyday tasks we take for granted may actually require years of practice, patience, and encouragement for others to accomplish.

For many years, iST has partnered with the Ai-Heng Social Welfare Foundation, supporting programs that help individuals with disabilities build life skills and social confidence. At Ai-Heng LOHAS Farm, every vegetable patch, every harvested crop, and every carefully maintained space reflects the dedication and hard work of the foundation’s members.

Rather than simply offering support from afar, iST believes that truly stepping into their environment and participating alongside them creates a deeper sense of understanding, encouragement, and respect.

This year marked the third time iST invited employees and their families to visit Ai-Heng LOHAS Farm. Through hands-on experiences such as harvesting vegetables and picking tomatoes, participants were able to connect with the land and appreciate the value of hard work. Using fresh herbs and produce grown on the farm, they also made handmade herb noodles and natural tooth powder on-site.

The event was filled with laughter, interaction, and shared experiences. Both children and adults thoroughly enjoyed the activities and the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.

Through activities like these, iST hopes more people can see the perseverance and care behind every small achievement made by the foundation’s members. When companies encourage employees to engage directly with local communities, social participation becomes more than a one-time activity — it becomes a way to foster inclusion, empathy, and lasting community connection.

Moving forward, iST will continue working alongside nonprofit partners to support independent living and social participation for people with disabilities, allowing understanding and kindness to continue growing through every interaction.
