Except for its Neihu facility, iST’s main production sites are concentrated in the Hsinchu area, which is characterized by a strong industrial cluster. The company has been actively engaging with the local community through its Brand Planning Department and Employee Welfare Committee, conducting environmental and social impact assessments. During the reporting period, no significant environmental, social, or economic impacts were observed on the surrounding communities or neighboring factories.
Not only does iST have no potential negative impact on the communities surrounding its operations, but it has also been continuously supporting local social welfare organizations and providing scholarships for many years. These initiatives aim to nurture future technology talents and assist underprivileged students in remote areas. Additionally, iST promotes a rural elementary school reading program to help children develop good reading habits and foundational chemistry knowledge from an early age, enhancing their future competitiveness.
Beyond academic support, iST collaborates with relevant organizations to promote emotional intelligence (EQ) education for children, helping them build emotional resilience and contributing to a more harmonious society. Furthermore, the company has launched the "Giving Hands" initiative, inviting institutions for individuals with disabilities to sell their homegrown agricultural products at iST’s premises, thereby creating opportunities for social contribution and giving back to the community.
iST recognizes the critical link between emotional education and social harmony, especially for economically disadvantaged students. These students often face pressures from their families and social environments, which can negatively impact their emotional and mental well-being. In 2023, iST partnered with 190 schools to address these challenges by offering courses to help students manage their emotions, build confidence, and develop resilience. Additionally, scholarships were provided to support underprivileged students, enabling them to focus on their education and face life's challenges with greater mental and emotional stability.
● Rural Education: Promoting Science Education and Supporting Extracurricular Resources in Underserved Areas
iST has long been committed to supporting education in rural areas, recognizing that limited access to educational and financial resources often leaves students with fewer opportunities to expand their knowledge. To help broaden their horizons, iST promotes access to extracurricular activities and supplemental learning materials. In 2023, iST partnered with Tamkang University's "Chemistry On The Go" program, bringing hands-on science education to underserved schools. Additionally, iST invited university students to visit its facilities before graduation, providing insights into the semiconductor industry and inspiring them to explore potential career paths. By collaborating with 39 schools in 2023, iST’s educational initiatives benefited 607 students, reaffirming the company’s commitment to nurturing talent and supporting the next generation.
Through these initiatives, iST aims to align employees with its values and culture, fostering a sense of pride and purpose. In 2023, iST hosted 40 charity sales events, delivered Christmas gifts to rural areas, and partnered with 9 social welfare organizations. Looking ahead, iST will continue to expand its efforts, bringing warmth and hope to those in need.
